Veggie Burger |
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
• Veggie burger | 1 | |
• Burger bun | 1 | |
• Mayonnaise | to taste | |
• Ketchup | to taste | |
• Lettuce | 1 leaf | |
• Tomato | 1 small |
Directions:
- Pop the bun in the toaster oven for a few minutes if you like a toasted bun.
- Wash the lettuce leaf and tomato.
- The cleanest way to heat a frozen veggie burger is to simply to pop it in the microwave; 45 seconds on each side.
- Apply some mayo on the bun then build the burger with toppings of you choice.
Notes:
Serve with a side of baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, sweet potato, soup or chips.
Choose any variety of burger you like. Amy's, MorningStar, Gardenburger, Dr. Praeger's, Veggie Patch and Trader Joe's all make interesting versions. Most have about 5g of protein. The MorningStar varieties generally have about 10g of protein. Interestingly, the burger bun above has 8g of protein! In my opinion, a veggie burger can taste like what it is; veggies, soy and grain etc. I find the versions that try to imitate a beef patty (Gardein, Boca, MorningStar Grillers) very unappealing and difficult to digest.
